💮Beautiful Wednesday💮

by , in

Good afternoon. I hope your enjoying your Wednesday.

We've had lots of rain here and flooding.
I'm hopeful we're done with the rain.
It does sound like the extreme heat is on its
way back. I'm enjoying it being just a bit
cooler today.
When it does heat up I plan to spend lots of time
submerged in the pool. lol

What are your plans during the summer?
Do you swim, travel or do other things?
I'd love to hear!

Thrive Don't Just Survive

by , in

I'm in the proces of updating the 'self-sufficiency series and membership. Just temporary cuz I'm not pleased with it. Any who For lots of reasons I'm rethinking where I want to live.
I know some are quite sick of hearing about the threat of this and that but what if their real threats and you didn't plan even a bit. I think of the threat of an EMP or CME (more detail on those another time) and our power grid was down, cars didn't work and are electronics were toast.
Do you think on these things and are you planning or are you a critic of those who do? It's ok to be honest either way!

Where's That Summer Bod?

by , in

If your like me and 100's of others you want to look good for the summer.

I think emphasis on being healthy is more important than looking like a barbie doll. That's my take on being summer skinny!
In future posts I wil share some helpful info for those who would like to drop pounds outside of the million fad diets available.

But dang you love food and eating. After all one's got to have good nutrition right!

If we seem to gain a pound by thinking about food

it seems no fair. What's the answer!

What kinds of foods & snacks do you like?
I'm discovering with a little time and effort I can find & make some tasty foods & snacks I like that are healthy.

I believe there is a way if your vegan, Paleo or even diabetic.
Sometimes it takes a little tweaking of a recipe perhaps but who says eating healthy has to be boring!

I'd like to share by example some great recipes in coming days I believe you'll enjoy!

The recipe I want to share today is
Grilled Basil Broccoli
from the lovely Gourmande.
This won't disappoint eaten alone or as a side with other foods.

Please Pay Attention to Me!

by , in

Good evening. I hope you haven't had a terribly bad hair day like this gal. lol

I found this picture on Wititudes and love it.
My hair isn't normally this frizzy if I let it dry naturally
but it can sure be a mess if I don't take care of it.

What do you do to take care of your hair?
I'm curious if you keep trying to find that just right

product for your hair.

For me finding the right shampoo and conditioner
used to be as challenging as finding a soap
that was for real and not detergent.
(I won't get on my rant about the soap right now)

When you have super long hair like mine
it's important to have product that works.
Even if your hair is shorter than mine
you want it to be clean, soft and manageable, right!

I've discovered Forever Aloe Jojaba Shampoo
and Conditioner.
My hair and I have a love for it.
It's not just aloe and it's just not jojoba that makes these so nurturing.

Lavender Essential Oil

Forever's Lavender Essential Oil makes my hair shine
& makes my scalp feel so good too.

Plus such a nice soothing fragrance too.

Also I appreciate the natural, gentle sudsing of the aloe in the shampoo.

Forever's Aloe Jojoba conditioner is a prize to me for it's moisture boosting properties from the jojoba, macadamia oil, lavender oil, and sunflower seed oil.
And no build up in my hair either!

Go for it! Take good care of you & your
hair this summer!

Heat Relief

by , in

Oh my goodness it's hot here!
How's your afternoon going?
Are you experiencing super hot weather
or is yours moderate?

I have spent the last several days taking
baby steps to put the pool up with hope
of some heat relief.

Well today I pushed a little harder to
finish setting it up to fill with water.
And yeah it's now filling!

As a result of pushing a bit hard my
back says ouch.

I came in before lunch, and put some
Forever Aloe Heat Lotion on my
back where I could reach and asked
my grandson to rub some where I couldn't.
Sat with the heating pad and feel
sooo much better. Yeah!
Now this is my kind of heat relief
for the physical ouches!

What do you use for those ouches when
you've pushed a little too hard, you have a lot of back pain normally or
something just doesn't feel right?

I'd like to encourage you to have a tube of Aloe Heat Lotion on hand for some relief.

Smores and More

by , in

Good evening.
It's a wonderfully cool evening here. We've had a nice break in temps and humidity. So, it's been rather pleasant.

A fantastic nite to be out making smores or just enjoying sitting around out of doors kicking back.

Do you enjoy sitting out in the evening enjoying
the nite or would you rather be inside with a good book?

3 Steps to Changing Your Home's Exterior Design

by , in

Can you believe it's already June!

The month of June seems like a good time to focus on this excellent article,
'3 Steps to Changing Your Home’s Exterior Design'
By Aurora McCausland Enjoy the article and let me know what you think!

Do you ever feel like your home holds most of its charm on the inside? You find yourself telling guests not to judge the exterior of your home, and to just wait and see what it looks like inside. Most people tend to think that the interior of their home is the easiest part to fix up and remodel. This is probably because generally with the interior of a home, you do it gradually, one room at a time, so it seems like an easier and less time consuming job. The truth is, the exterior of your home is a lot more important than you think. An impression of a home is made as soon as they pull up to the curb, which is why they call it “curb appeal”. The exterior of your home says a lot about you and sets the tone for what it will look like inside. If you feel like you need to up your curb appeal, here are a few steps to changing your home’s exterior design!

Paint job

A little bit of paint goes a long way, especially when it comes to the exterior of your home. Even if you’re not painting your home a new color, but just updating the color that you already have, you’ll notice a huge difference in the way it looks once it has a fresh coat of paint on it. The same goes for painting your door, as well as trim and any detailing. Depending on the size of your house, painting is probably the least expensive thing that you can do to give the exterior of your home an immediate facelift. Just make sure that you keep an eye on the weather, and paint when you know the weather will be fair and sunny for a few days. You don’t want rain or snow to ruin the paint job, and high wind speeds could cause debris to get stuck in the wet paint. If you’re intimidated by the idea of painting your entire home, you can always ask a few friends to help you out over the weekend, or hire a local painting company to come and do the task for you.

Windows

The windows of your home seem like they couldn’t do a lot, but they make a big statement to the outside world. Painting trim around the windows will give them new life, or adding shutters to all of your exterior windows will give your entire home a new look. You can also add new windows to your garage door, which will make your home feel more open and inviting, as well as provide your garage with natural light as an added bonus.

Another great idea is to add window treatments onto the interior side of the windows. Not only is this a great accent for the interior of your home, but it also makes it so  you can’t see inside your home through your windows. This is a safe practice, as well as makes it so the exterior of your home really shines because you can’t get distracted by looking into your home through the windows.

Landscaping

Having a dirt pit for a front yard doesn’t exactly speak highly of what your guests should expect walking into the interior of your home, does it? Landscaping is a highly intimidating job, but it doesn’t have to be. It also doesn’t all have to be done at once. Instead of saving up to overhaul your entire front yard in one weekend, do it in installments, to make it more budget friendly and less overwhelming. Reseeding the grass/laying down sod, planting a flower garden, bringing in a few trees, creating a rock garden with a flagstone walkway, and bringing in a few shrubs are all great ways to makeover your landscaping in small installments. Before you start on your landscaping projects, it’s a good idea to plan out the entire area. This way you don’t have to modify your plans once you’ve already started, because you didn’t think something through well enough. Not only does this save you money in the long run, but it helps you find a perfect place for everything you want to include in your landscaping without having to scramble to find a place for that firepit later on.
